Do-it-yourself fashion and recycled fashions are increasingly popular as the green movement continues to pick up speed and attract more appeal. Not only does eco-apparel intrigue the tree-hugger within, but it also caters to the desire to stand out from the crowd by offering fashionistas the ability to create unique, signature pieces that are in exact alignment with the personal style they want to portray to the world.
DIY fashion became so popular this year, a weekly show was created dedicated entirely to relentlessly imaginative people making their creative visions a wearable reality.
A new episode of ThreadBanger, a web-based DIY fashion show, airs each Friday. Hosts Rob and Corinne take viewers on an action-packed, five minute journey into the lives of the most creative, inspirational designers. The show features interviews with budding new artists, excursions into the nation's most eclectic craft fairs, and, of course, tips on how to modify your wardrobe or create your own, personalized line of hip fashions.
How-tos could include creating funky mittens out of old sweaters, or transforming a blazer into a hoodie. The show is very much on the cutting edge of what's going on in the DIY clothing world. They go to every craft fair in the country, and are constantly on the road, meeting as many talented designers across the states as possible.
Leading up to Christmas, their winter special will include two videos a week to help viewers get into crafty spirit of the season, from making the trendiest winter fashions and accessories, both for themselves and as holiday gifts for others.
In this week's show, embedded below, Rob & Corinne take us to the Fifth Annual Stitch Fashion Show & Craft Fair in Austin, TX and give a lesson on how to turn that boring old sweater into new leg warmers!
