Unabashedly Chromatic Couture

This Diver and Aguilar 'Colorama' Editorial is Bold and Colorful

The Diver and Aguilar 'Colorama' editorial explores the aesthetic of boldly chromatic designs without reservation.

Though clashing colors have certainly made their presence felt both on the runway and on the street in recent years, such looks are still more of a fashion statement rather than mainstream de rigueur. Diver & Aguilar seek to explore why this is.

On their Behance page, the London-based photography duo point out that bright colorful clothing has been a mainstay of traditional African clothing since time immemorial. In contrast, Westerners are inundated with cheap, mass produced clothing, often in the tradition of more reserved color palettes.

Interestingly though, the editorial was photographed in Whitechapel Road U.K. and used British citizens as models wearing Italian suits.
Trend Themes
1. Chromatic Fashion - The rise of bright, bold, vibrant fashions in contrast to traditional reserved color palettes offer disruptive innovation opportunities for emerging designers to revolutionize established fashion norms.
2. African-inspired Design - Traditional African clothing, composed of bright, colorful patterns, offers innovative designers a source of inspiration to incorporate into Western designs, crossing cultural boundaries and broadening the appeal of colorful clothing.
3. Clashing Colors - With clashing colors becoming more mainstream on runways and streets alike, there is an opportunity for innovators to experiment with unconventional color combinations in their own designs, potentially spurring new trends and expanding the color palette of fashion.
Industry Implications
1. Fashion - The fashion industry should embrace the trend towards bold and vibrant chromatic clothing, keeping traditional cautionary color palettes as an option in their collections but introducing new, daring options to better appeal to wider audiences.
2. Textile Production - As bold chromatic fashion rises in popularity, producers of textiles will need to adapt to create materials that can withstand the bright and vivid dyes being used in order to facilitate the creation of such designs.
3. Fashion Photography - Fashion photographers have the opportunity to incorporate cultural influences in their photoshoots, aiming to showcase vibrant new designs and providing new perspectives for fashion enthusiasts to explore.
