Optical Illusion Furnishings

The Dip Stool by Merve Kahraman

The Dip Stool by designer Merve Kahraman challenges human perception with its graphic and geometric design. For her latest series of custom table and stool furnishings, Merve drew inspiration from optical illusion artwork.

The Dip Stool's illusionary design was put together using a number of wooden pieces that were hand-assembled by the designer herself. The pieces were carefully assembled and layered to create a stereoscopic effect using different wood types in varying hues.

The end result of this complex process is a vivid furniture piece that is sure to enhance any modern interior. The aesthetically pleasing and practical home accessory gives one the illusion of the third dimension and plays with perception wherever it is displayed.
