Japanese firm ON-ART Corporation has invented a suit, called 'Dino-a-Live,' that will be used to create a 'Jurassic Park'-style theme park in 2018. The impressive, realistic suits let performers play the part of an allosaurus, a raptor, or a tyrannosaurus rex.
Rather than being animatronic, the Dino-a-Live suits are fully human-operated. Standing about 8 meters from nose to tail, the suits nonetheless require a single person to operate. Thanks to the use of lightweight plastics and carbon fiber, the suits weight just 84 pounds, letting the performers move the imitation dinosaurs around with realistic speed and aggression.
The Dino-a-Live suits' designs are based off of actual fossilized skeletons to help portray realism. Added features like blinking eyes and functional mouths help to make the suits more lifelike.
