Streetwear usually plays second fiddle to couture in the fashion world; however, the Diamond Supply Co.'Player' Collection is trying another tactic to get the recognition it deserves.
The Diamond Supply Co. 'Player' Collection may look familiar to some and completely original to others. The truth is, it borrowed many features from the 'PLAY' line launched by fashion gods Comme des Garcon. But is it really borrowing? Or is it an homage to the great label? Or even more exciting, is it a friendly competitive jab to the couture scene from the street scene? Regardless of true intentions, the line looks great. The diamond symbol is reworked to imitate the 'PLAY' collection, and, of course, the tag 'Player' is directly linked to the Comme des Garcon collection.
Containing graphic tees, hoodies and sweatshirts, the Diamond Supply Co. 'Player' Collection does an excellent job of flipping high fashion logos and taking an ironic stance towards them.
