Ride-Hailing Safety Check-Ins

Uber's New RideCheck Feature is Able to Detect Crashes and More

The Uber app will now be able to detect Crashes in the United Staes, using the app's new RideCheck feature. The platform's ability to detect crashes relies on the app's GPS system to monitor potential safety issues or delays as the ride continues. The RideCheck feature will also undertake action in order to prevent issues from occurring, by checking in with users during unplanned stops. Uber plans to roll out its RideCheck capabilities to other countries soon.

If a safety issue occurs then the rider, as well as the driver, will be prompted to indicate if their situation is safe. If either the rider or driver is experiencing an issue and needs assistance, they are able to hit the emergency button in the app or hit the contact Uber Saftey Line button.
