Design Pavilion—a New York City-based organization that is dedicated to beautifying the city with engaging public art installations—commissioned American studio CLB Architects to create a playful activation for the annual NYCxDesign festival. The project, located in the famously hectic Times Square in New York, is named 'Filter.'
Made out of weathering steel plates, Filter was initially planned for 2020, however, its construction was understandably delayed due to the pandemic. The piece has a circular structure and a tree in the middle. There are spaces for individuals to sit and take a rest or socialize at the bottom of the pavilion. CLB Architects has mentioned that "Filter carves out space for quiet recentering within the frenetic energy of Times Square."
