Photographer Dennis Duinker Slows His Camera to Liven the City

Cities are places that are alive with movement and excitement happening around every corner, and Dennis Duinker wanted to capture that feeling in his work.

As a photographer, Duinker is used to bring out the beauty of his subjects, but in order to bring the city to life he needed to slow down. The movement that he was able to create is because of a decreased shutter speed. Since that speed was so slow, his camera was able to pick up all the bursts of light and moving objects. He has both colorful and black and white photography, and these opposite styles really evoke different emotions. Dennis Duinker has created an amazing series on cityscapes, and has put movements into a photograph where there would usually be none.
