Jordan Brand and Footlocker have come together to create a new ad, titled 'Defy the Monstars,' in honor of the 20th anniversary of 'Space Jam.' The ad is part of a global push to introduce a new generation of young basketball fans to the Space Jam story, altering the ethos to better suit the current basketball environment.
In the ad, a group of young street ballers get locked out of their local court by the Monstars, a seemingly unbeatable team of superstar players. But rather than complying and adopting the Monstars brutal and boring style of play, the young team enlists Bugs Bunny and LA Clippers star Blake Griffin to fight back. Jimmy Butler, the Chicago Bulls star shooting guard, also makes an appearance in 'Defy the Monstars.'
The ad is set to air nationally on TNT, NBA-TV, and ESPN.
