David Adjaye Designed a Bottle for the World's Oldest Whisky

British-Ghanian architect David Adjaye designed a bottle to celebrate the world's oldest single malt whisky. The designer also included an oak case for the distinguished beverage. The 80-year-old Gordon & MacPhail Generations whisky from Glenlivet Distiller is claimed to be the oldest single malt Scotch whisky ever bottled.

The bottle design highlights the Gordon & MacPhail Generations color with its curved shape. Each 70-centimeter bottle was handblown by Glencairn Crustal Studio. The design goal was to appear as though the bottle was "hewn from a single solid block of crystal." A limited amount of 250 bottles were made, making for a rare collector's item. The lack of distinction between the vessel and what it contains was a purposeful choice.
