Transformable Mini-Cars

The Daihatsu D-X Seats Two and Can Take Three Different Forms

Daihatsu is pulling out all the stops for the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show as evidenced by the Daihatsu D-X. The Daihatsu D-X is a transforming mini-car as a jack of all trades. The D-X seats two and can transform into a small van/hatchback, roadster or truck.

The Daihatsu D-X is powered by a turbocharged and direct injected .66-liter 2-cylinder engine. The D-X seems to be primarily targeted at today's urban youth who are seeking out smaller and more Earth-friendly cars. While a car that can take three different forms sounds too good to be true, I'd wager dollars to donuts that the technology isn't as complicated as it seems. After all, car companies are now creating hardtop convertibles and SUV-truck combos. The Daihatsu D-X is slated to make its world debut at the Tokyo Motor Show December 2nd.
