That surreal shape that trees take when they're constantly pressured by the gale-force winds of sea coasts is symbolized by this collection of curved vases. With inspiration taken specifically from the forests in west Norway, Ralston & Bau wanted to celebrate the power of nature and the Scandinavian landscape through decorative household objects.
Clear glass was cast into three stem holders of various widths, all embodying a similar organic curvature. Escaping from openings on roughly 30-degree angles, the flowers and greenery that you display in these Storm Vases splay out and slump down as if they've been wind-blown themselves. The transparent material enables you to see the complete graceful shapes of the arching stocks.
Straight up vases have been done millions of time, so this asymmetric design is unique and visually intriguing.
