Architecture firm MG2 and the Eastman Innovation Lab have collaborated to develop an ingenious concept for cubicle dividers that would help to divide office workspaces. The new design concept is part of an experimental type of architecture, which seeks to bring characteristics of the online space into the physical office environment. The idea is to allow static spaces to change their configuration through the use of digital technology.
'MIMIC' is a design concept that attempts to bring media architecture to the workplace through the use of pixelated cubicle dividers. The concept is based on the idea of a modular dividing wall that is made up of pixel-like modules. The revolutionary dividers would not only provide privacy, but also interior lighting, acoustic control and even media display.
Unfortunately MIMIC is still just a concept, but plans are currently in the works to create a physical prototype in the near future.
