Interdisciplinary design studio Kalos Eidos created the Crossfold Loft, which is a design project led by architect Ryan Thomas. He is also a founding member of WIP Collaborative and he applies his expertise to the compact apartment located in Brooklyn, New York.
The space is optimized with a versatile design and minimal interventions that make the most of the 900-square-foot home. It has two bedrooms with ensuites and integrates details such as custom storage and planes that lie horizontally to showcase the homeowner's artifacts. Thomas explains, "The strategy for this project was to mine the floor plan for small-scale opportunities to capture space, increasing the capacity for storage through a cumulation of small gains in depth and surface area while leaving the floor area open for essential furniture elements."
