These crafty vases made out of pencils are the work of Amsterdam-based designer Tuomas Markunpoika who literally glued and milled Faber-Castell’s together to make decorative homeware accents with colored leads.
"For as long as I can remember, I have had a jar or two full of wooden pencils on my studio desk - some new, some half-used, some graphite and some colored. I realised how beautiful and interesting they are as objects," says Markunpoika.
The designer was inspired by the pencils on his desk which lead him to create the ‘Amalgamated’ collection of crafty vases that was designed by fusing the pencils together then shaping the vase like you would any piece of wood to get just the right shape required.
So if you are looking for a completely novel vase, this is definitely it.
