Walmart is a major player when it comes to delivering essentials to the homes of consumers, but it's latest initiative to get at-home COVID-19 self-collection kits to those who need them aims to make the process of getting tested even easier.
The new initiative is seeing the brand partner with Quest Diagnostics and DroneUp to offer consumers a drone-delivered test kit that will arrive right at their front door. The trial is being now in North Las Vegas with expansion to Cheektowaga, New York taking place in early October.
Senior Vice President of Customer Product Tom Ward spoke on the new at-home COVID-19 self-collection kits deliver initiative saying, "There’s a lot we can learn from our drone delivery pilots to help determine what roles drones can play in pandemic response, health care delivery and retail. We hope drone delivery of self-collection kits will shape contactless testing capabilities on a larger scale and continue to bolster the innovative ways Walmart plans to use drone delivery in the future."
