Designed for Italian design house Alessi, the Comtoise Clock was made by Flemish designers Job Smets and Nynke Tynagel and is a unique, classic yet contemporary clock that definitely draws the eye.
The designers wanted to create something out of a unique material that Alessi had not yet used and they decided that material would be tin. The clock is cluttered with several images -- including old-fashioned candles, dragonflies, keys, flowers, peace signs, airplanes, roses, pills and letters -- all of which exemplify the unique look the designers were going for. While the surrounding area of the clock is somewhat chaotic, the clock itself features a simple design.
The wartime imagery couples with some peaceful images allows the contemporary clock to point to distinctions between the two in an ironic way, while simultaneously being a fashionable and unique wall accessory.
