Based on an idea by Sir Isaac Newton, Natasha Dzurny and Louise Foo developed the Color Play. This stimulating sensory device encourages you to make your own unique music by piecing together pie-shaped slices of plastic to form whole spectral records. Comprising different tints and widths, the wedges each produce a different sound.
Once in place, the pieces can be set to rotate around the record player with speed adjustments made with a knob. The device reads the sections with sensors made from RGB LEDs and photocells. As the slices pass by the white arrow of the Color Play, they glow. The listener-viewer has a synesthetic experience though the direct association between color and sound.
