This old church that has gone out of business in Washington, DC has been revived with the large scale color installations by artist HENSE. The project is radical and dazzling.
The Atlanta native, Alex Brewer -- known as HENSE -- is an artist with a very unique vision that he frequently reflects on his artwork. Hense appreciates the creation that comes out of destruction and is therefore not wary of ‘ruining’ any of his designs. He splashes colors over his work and has fun with the layering of the work.
"Taking an existing object like the church and painting the entire thing re-contextualizes it and makes it a sculptural object. With projects like this one, we really try to use the existing architecture as inspiration for the direction of the painting," explains the mastermind of this visual carnival.
