The Cola-Bow by Penda, a multicultural design collective based in Vienna, Italy, and Beijing, China, is an impressive pavilion not only for the stunning arcing shape it takes on, but also for what it is made out of. Over 17,000 recycled plastic bottles were used to create the sweeping outdoor structure. Inspired by the swings of the Coca-Cola logo, the design specifically uses this company's plastic bottles.
Now being used as the entrance canopy to the Student Beijing Design Exhibition, the Cola-Bow by Penda was created in joint effort with universities around Beijing and Coca-Cola China. For every ten empty bottles given to the project, citizens were gifted with a full Coca-Cola bottle. The pavilion serves as a statement against plastic pollution.
