Cutlery-Adorned Cafes

'Coffee Jobs' Uses Cutlery and Kitchen Tools as Wall Decoration

'Coffee Jobs' is a Hong Kong cafe located on a busy street corner in Kwong Wa Street. To make itstand out amongst a crowded restaurant and retail scene, designer Tommy Lai opted for unique wall decor to attract younger consumers. The entire interior of Coffee Jobs is seen from the outside through wall-sized glass windows. Hoping to pique the interests of passersby, Lai included light baby-blue color accents on the concrete walls.

Rather than offering a dimly lit, contemporary aesthetic, Coffee Jobs does the opposite and relies on cheery, bright colors to attract coffee drinkers. Inside, Coffee Jobs uses an abundance of cutlery like spoons and forks as inexpensive and creative wall decor. Coffee Jobs gives off an extremely playful tone through its neatly lined hanging cutlery, kitchen tools and rolling pins.
