American news channel CNN has launched its first premium streaming service called CNN Plus. To start, the new service will offer around a dozen weekly shows and stream over a thousand hours of on-demand content. However, the service's most interesting new feature is an interactive Q&A tool that allows guests to directly ask reporters questions about the day's biggest news.
"We view CNN Plus as being additive. It’s a totally new thing that’s a complimentary product to CNN on linear television," Robyn Peterson, chief technology officer, and SVP at CNN.
In other words, the app will not just be a digital library consisting of coverage produced for its cable counterpart. CNN Plus will launch with entirely new shows from Anderson Cooper, Audie Cornish, Jake Tapper, and others.
