Scott Jarvie’s Clutch Chair is made from 10,000 drinking straws. According to the artist statement it, is "...an exploratory research piece that passes comment on our disposable culture."
The chair was developed within Scott Jarvie’s Clutch Project in which a light structure, also made entirely of straws, was also developed. The project was inspired by the directional attributes of capillary tubes and minute observations on the compositional structure of trees.
The Clutch Chair was selected by Zaha Hadid as her Curators Choice at Noise Festeval 2008.
