Mount Vernon, Washington-based, biotech lab, Boo-Shoot Gardens has produced breakthrough tissue-culture science that enables rapid propagation of bamboo plants on a scale heretofore unknown.
Owner Jackie Heinricher launched Boo-Shoot in 1998. As of 2009, Heinricher and Booshoot senior scientist Randy Burr, will supply wholesalers with over two million plants annually.
Boo-Shoot’s technology will help to meet the growing demand of bamboo in wood products, paper pulp, textiles, soil stabilization, and reforestation. Since bamboo sequesters carbon 4x as efficiently as hardwood trees, growing it is good for the planet and for the air we breathe.
