The German design studio ClipHut is revolutionizing the ways in which consumers arrange their homes with its clippable furniture. The practice's research and prototypes (including a wooden hut and a freestanding bar) were recently debuted during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
The idea of clippable furniture is attributed to the Brazilian architect Thomaz Vieira. The clippable mechanism is intricate. Compromised by horizontal and vertical planks, "the surface of the horizontal planks is punctuated with evenly spaced holes, while the edge of the vertical planks is shaped in the form of a clip." The clippable furniture material is oriented strand board (also known as OSB). The system enables both the horizontal and vertical planks to interlock at various points. This gives individuals greater control over the shape of the furniture.
