Apocalypse-Ready Fashion

Climate Change Couture by Catherine Sarah Young is a Fake Collection

Climate Change Couture goes beyond current fashion fads and focuses on designs that will benefit survival when the world has fallen to bits. While people are having fun preparing for the zombie apocalypse, a more realistic end is on the horizon and this fake fashion collection addresses that concern.

Made up of five pieces, Climate Change Couture was designed by Catherine Sarah Young as part of the 2013 Art Science Residency Programme. Each one revolves around a key survival tactic whether that means cocooning oneself from the elements with The Bubble, covering oneself with whatever is around to form the Trash Dress or staying afloat with the Aquatutu.

Part of her larger Apocalypse Project, Climate Change Couture questions "how we might live when the earth is not very livable," as put by Young.
