Collaborative Japanese Fall Collections

Christian DaDa and Kappa Collaborated for Fall/Winter 2018

Christian Dada and Kappa worked together to design pieces for the Christian Dada Fall/Winter 2018 collection. Japanese designer Masanori Morikawa of Christian Dada, calls upon the "Dadaist mantra of nihility," which is an idea that "nothing means anything" and is incorporated into the designs. The collection's concepts are often hard to grasp on the outside and the Fall/Winter collection does not sway away from that difficulty. To explain the abstraction of his designs, Morikawa quotes David Lynch saying: "A spiral is a circle that goes up or down. For me, this spiral is a circle going up representing evolution."

The collaboration between Christian Dada and Kappa debuts iconic Kappa details on the sides of track pants and the sleeves of shirts. A standout piece from the collaboration is the bomber, the front of the piece of which is translucent and has "DADA" imprinted on the back and Kappa's recognized logo down the sleeves.
