With over 600 shoes hanging by bright red yarn, the Chiharu Shiota 'Breath Of The Spirit' installation sure knows how to step it up. The eye-catching piece was created by the Japanese international artist Chiharu Shiota down the Osaka National Museum of Art building. The whimsical installation used worn out and old shoes that people no longer wanted and tangled them in red yarn, reviving them to appear as if they were walking across the exterior surface of the building.
Each of the shoes carries a different tale about the journey it has walked, and perhaps these inanimate objects provide some insight into the people that have walked, hopped and jumped through the world. The Chiharu Shiota Breath Of The Spirit installation makes the viewer visualize what it is like to walk a mile in someone else's shoes.
