Alexis Mire's 'Chasing the Moon' Series is Romantic and Surreal

The 'Chasing the Moon' photo series is romantic and surreal. It follows a girl who is following a mini moon in the hopes of capturing it as her very own. Set in a forest with sunlight streaming through the lush canopy above, the photo shoot is steeped in nature.

Conceived and shot by Alexis Mire, a 19 year-old photographer based in Jacksonville, Florida, the Chasing the Moon series was inspired by photos she took for an assignment in her color photography class a few months prior. Mire explains, "as she comes closer and closer the colors become more intensive, lush and spring-like."

The Chasing the Moon series also shows Mire's fascination with the idea of levitation, which she faked using Photoshop and a 10-dollar stool from Walmart.
