Believe it or not, these chairs were intentionally designed to be extremely uncomfortable.
Designed by the German firm Prime, the Unidentified Object Chair attempts to reinvent the idea of what furniture should be. The bottom half is made of laminated wood and the top part is foam.
Although the chair looks like a pretty painful perch, obviously someone thought it was a good idea.
Implications - It is interesting that the design firm would think that furniture should be somewhat uncomfortable. They created the chair as an experiment because they felt that the world was becoming too "overdesigned." The pyramid-looking Unidentified Object Chair would definitely make for some unique home or office decor.
