Japanese artist Tadashai Kawamata has created a gargantuan chair sculpture in Abu Dhabi.
Tadashi used hundreds of stack-able chairs, along with other pieces of furniture like sofas and stools, to create a tower effect. The chairs are positioned on top of one another and form a dome-like shape. One can go inside the sculpture and look at the stacks of chairs from within or view the piece from the outside.
The sculpture is made up of hundreds of stairs and took the artist five days to assemble. The larger-than-life artwork is meant to symbolize unity. Tadashi purposely used different types of chairs and furniture to signify the diversity in people and allow them to connect and interrelate with his work.
The chair sculpture is large, visually pleasing and an artwork that unifies objects and people with their differences.
