Pixelated Armchairs

Tiny Little Eye Chart Chairs Showcased at Milan Furniture Show

These miniature chairs that replicate my recollection of color blindness charts are part of the Proust Limited Edition hand painted chairs that will be displayed during the Milan Furniture Fair 2009.

The ceramic ware is hand painted by Allessandro Mendini and produced by Supergo. The color dots represent little fragments of memory, according to the artist.

Implications - Pixelation was once viewed as a photography faux pas, yet is now accepted as an ironic element of design that adds interest and nostalgia to almost any piece. The funky look of pieces that incorporate 8-bit inspiration are attractive to the consumer who remembers pixels from the past. Ultimately, pixelated design is a fun reminder of where technology originated and how far it's gone.
