Throw stylist Carrie Mundane into a blender with a box of neon-colored markers, an 80s video game and a time machine set for the year 2097 and what do you get? Probably something that looks like it was made for the runway of a Cassette Playa fashion show.
Combining DayGlo colors, neon graphics and a fashion-forward fearlessness, the (ironically named) Mundane is the designer behind the burgeoning clothing line. The Cassette Playa label is built from bold pieces that demand to be acknowledged.
No pun intended, but the future for Cassette Playa is bright, as Mundane has already done collabos with Nike, Fruition and Billionaire Boys Club. Mundane’s self-described ‘aced sartorialism’ is also evident in her work as a stylist for artists like M.I.A. and the Klaxons. I’m sure many more of music and fashion’s elite will be added to that list very shortly.
