SIA Arquitectura Designs the Casa da Encosta n Grândola

Lisbon-based design studio SIA Arquitectura completed the Casa da Encosta n Grândola which is located in Portugal. The home is defined by its range of lime-rendered strictures which have been placed around a central courtyard. The Casa da Encosta n Grândola is comprised of a main home and hour smaller guest homes around the area, nodding to the traditional architecture of the region by using ancient materials such as lime render and wood.

Co-founder of the studio Ana Cravinho speaks to Dezeen about the design, stating "The design was inspired by the traditional architecture of this coastal region of Portugal, which is closely tied to basic local materials and techniques. We studied the scale of these buildings and drew inspiration from their often delicate and fragile nature, while being highly responsive to the territory and the people."
