Recycling has spurred on such a huge movement for creative projects like these instruments made of old car parts.
The video is from the British Ford commercial we posted last week which featured an entire orchestra made of pieces of a Ford Focus backed up singer, Alesha Dixon. The music they are able to create on these 21 instruments is truly incredible. Although the car was brand new, it's still neat to see how these pieces, which would otherwise be considered useless on their own, can be used to create alternative products.
The Car Music Project took five weeks and 22 people and resulted in the creation of string, wind, brass and percussion instruments. Each piece not only had to look good but had to be perfectly in tune as they were used by real musicians for the ad.
Bill Milbrodt, who took part in the project, had worked on another Car Music Project using a Honda Accord.
"The car was dismantled completely, and the parts were sorted into boxes and around the workshop (door parts with door parts, etc.)," Milbrodt explained in an interview by Peter Kirn.
"We were also required â€" for credibility and authenticity â€" to make instruments from intact car parts as much as possible (as opposed to making major or defining parts out of sheet metal from the body of the car)."
