Flashy Fence Installations

Capturing Resonance by Soo Sunny Park Sparkles and Shimmers in Light

It is always interesting to see everyday, practical objects in a new light; the Capturing Resonance installation takes classic chain link fences and turns them into works of art. The pieces are so beautiful that it is easy to overlook its fence foundation at first.

Created by sculptor Soo Sunny Park in collaboration with sound artist Spencer Topel, the Capturing Resonance art installation hangs from the third floor ceiling of the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Lincoln, Massachusetts. Park, known for using generic industrial materials, places colorful Plexiglas squares between the fence links, creating a multi-hued shell that acts like a disco ball when light hits it.

The audio portion of the Capturing Resonance art installation interacts with the museum visitors, playing sounds depending on the volume and speed of the audience.
