Technical Stone Chairs

The Campione Chair is Part of the Trentino Collaborations

Max Lamb, a British designer, has submitted the first entry to the Trentino Collaborations project with the Campione chair. Made from granite mined from a quarry in the mountainous Italian region of Trentino, the Campione chair highlights 14 different traditional techniques that the stonemasons from the area use in their work.

Max Lamb discovered the techniques used in the Campione chair thanks to his collaboration with Pedretti Graniti, a native of Trentino. The techniques demonstrated in the chair include four-axis wire saw cutting, lettering, circular saw cutting, core drilling, edge profiling and many others.

The project that spurred the Campione chair, called Trentino Collaborations, pairs British designers with manufacturers from the Trentino region. Other works in the collaboration include a custom cabinet made with Trentino hardwood and a tiling design that uses porphyry rock.
