Campbell House, a Toronto museum that hosts events and art exhibitions to promote a diverse range of work from Canadian talent, is hosting a virtual exhibit that spotlights a selection of vibrant oil paintings from Ojibwe artist Anong Migwans Beam.
All of the pieces that are currently on show at the museum can be viewed online, with extensive photo galleries available, in addition to an informative walk-through video with Campbell House curators. The virtual experience was created after Ontario regulations we're updated to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and enables viewers everywhere to enjoy the contemporary pieces.
The exhibit showcases the first series of paintings that use handmade oil paints from the artist. Anong Migwans Beam spoke to this element, stating "There is an incredible circuity to making paint from rocks from Bay Fine near Killarney, then painting that same scene with those rocks that are now paint! Each image that I make I feel and I fall immersed in the history of painting, learning devices from those who have already travelled this path."
