The '2016 Adipositivity Project Calendar' is a calendar series that celebrates different body types. Although plus-size women have become more visible in the media, the models that have become the most successful tend to have the same perfectly-proportioned hourglass figure. This series showcases and celebrates plus-size women of all shapes and sizes.
The calendar series was produced by the 'Adipositivity Project' and photographed by Substantia Jones. The calendar features 12 stunning images of plus-size women in unexpected settings such as a Brooklyn rooftop, a Las Vegas street corner and even underwater. The series captures the beauty of women embracing their figures and not apologizing for their bodies. As photographer Substantia Jones explains, the project "gives visibility to fat people who’re generally shut out of positive or neutral representation in media and culture."
The project ultimately helps to celebrate women of all sizes and push back against conventional beauty standards.
