Local design firm StudioAC arranges the interior for this cafe-barber shop in Toronto's West End neighborhood. The focus is placed on creating a unified minimalist space that clearly and cleverly separates the dual functionality of the business.
The space carries a sleekly modern, polished industrial aesthetic. The layout of the hybrid store is L-shaped and therefore, StudioAC puts the cafe in the front and the barber service in the back. The interior is made to be affordable and open. The natural light that floods the space during the daytime is meticulously balanced by the black corrugated metal countertop. Although divided, the concrete countertop of this key piece of furniture is what unifies the cafe-barber shop — the countertop extends to the back of the space where it "acts as a ledge for barber stations."
