Temperature-Reducing Festival Solutions

Alex Shtanuk Wants to Cover Burning Man 2018 in a Blanket

Russian artist Alex Shtanuk is looking to contribute an installation to Burning Man 2018 that will provide a functional solution for the exhausting scorching temperatures. To raise money for this endeavor, the creative began an IndieGoGo campaign titled 'The Blanket.' The idea behind the installation is to cover the site for Burning Man 2018 in a giant NASA-engineered blanket that has the capability of reflecting 97% of radiated heat.

Alex Shtanuk's design consists of 3,350 NASA space blankets that are bound together with 40 kilometers of reinforced tape. Aside from its incredibly relevant functionality, the gigantic blanket is also aesthetically expressive with its metallic appearance and its lightweight design that will enable it to change its silhouette as the wind blows.
