Designed by the local firm deMx Architecture, Bowtie House is shortest in the center, with an angled roof that slopes upward toward the lateral ends of the building, giving it the appearance of -- as one likely guessed -- a bow tie.
Many people's only association with the Ozarks comes from the film 'Deliverance,' which is why the formal inspiration might come as a surprise. This is exactly the stereotype that Bowtie House aims to break, though, as the design "fuses Modernist ideals with vernacular strategies and a linear plan in responding to its Ozark context," according to the architects.
