Perhaps this is a trend that is about to go mainstream, or maybe it is just another "geekovation" that we are not all privy to. Designer Jonathan Roquemore’s life-changing experience resulted in these innovative sartorial wonders.
"Life got flipped-turned upside down," he describes his experience. "I found a unique textile for bow-ties in a town called Xiengkok." Roquemore, a Texan anthropologist living Switzerland, traveled to Xiengkok, Laos.
A tribe in Xiengkok known as the Laantan created a special cloth woven from "locally grown cotton, woven in narrow lengths and twice hand dyed in indigo, found in the Indigofera plants of Asia," according to YankoDesign. The maker of these fabric strips didn’t understand why Roquemore wanted them, but after bartering, they made a deal and the Srulirecht people began to craft his bowties.
So here they are, bow-ties from Xiengkok!
