The Boss SY-300 is a guitar synthesizer that offers electric guitar and bass players latency-free poly-synth sounds. These sounds can be accessed and generated without having to install a special pickup, connect a 13-pin cable or track picking action via a scanner. Rather the system simply uses the signal from standard pickups routed through a 0.25-inch instrument cable.
This system makes it possible to carry out digital signal processing with both analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion at 24-bit, 44.1 kHz resolution. The polyphonic synthesis engine has a trip of sections, each which has its own low frequency oscillator, filter, amp and pitch envelopes.
As with any quality piece of musical technology, the Boss SY-300 is ultimately designed to make it easier for musicians to express themselves with minimal duress, allowing them to leverage technology to amplify their innate skill.
