Norweigian designer Cathrine Bækken designs the new Booi pendant lighting for Graypants, which is a brand that has studios in both Seattle and Amsterdam. The designs are rooted in comfort through modern shapes and this time around, the light is inspired by nautical themes.
It nods to boat rounded fenders and traditional glass fishing floats and this is interpreted through the Booi lighting. The glass balls are sometimes seen washed ashore and the design builds upon the studio's mantra of "Dream big. Scribble often. Make thoughtfully." The lights have a CNC cut and are finished by hand in either ash or a walnut wooden top that holds a clear opal glass sphere in place, which is made with the help of Fin Design Studio.
