The U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency is launching an innovative new boating app that is designed to make it easier than ever for owners of boats to report their vessels to authorities in order to be able to clear customs in an expedient and timely manner.
The Reporting Offsite-Arrival Mobile app, dubbed ROAM for short, makes it possible for you to hold a video conference with border protection officers in order to go about clearing customs. The app can also be used in conjunction with physical reporting stations that will feature an iPad loaded with the ROAM app.
Small boat owners have long struggled to make use of archaic customs and reporting procedures, but this new boating app aims to change that whilst showing the promise of smartphone apps in improving bureaucratic procedures.
