The BMW Rapp Concept Pays Tribute to the Automaker's Forefather

Only the biggest of gearheads will know what inspired the BMW Rapp concept. This roadster was created by Dejan Hristov to celebrate the 100th birthday of Rapp Motorenwerke. Rapp Motorenwerke created aircraft engines before being renamed Bayerische Motorenwerke GmbH (BMW) after Karl Rapp left the company in 1917.

Hristov’s BMW Rapp concept pays tribute to both Bimmers and aircraft for years gone by. The roadster is a little bit retro, as indicated by its low windshield and the aircraft-inspired hood, circa WWI. Futuristic nods come in the form of what looks to be an LED instrument panel and what would undoubtedly be lightweight body panels. BMW is unlikely to ever turn Hristov’s design into a production or even physical concept, but it’s still nice to look at nonetheless.
