Hybrid haters may be singing a different song after seeing the new BMW i3 concept. The i3 is a four-door hatchback designed to be a complement to the BMW i8 concept with both set to be available in 2013.
If the BMW i8 is the badass, then the i3 is the sensible one as it is a simple hatchback with unmistakable BMW styling. The i3 has a 170 horsepower engine mounted onto the rear axle that pushes the car from 0-60 in eight seconds. The interior of the car is made from renewable raw materials to further add to this concept's green street cred. Included with the BMW i3 is a smartphone app that performs functions such as finding nearby charging stations and vehicle status checks.
BMW's "i" cars won't officially be part of the BMW lineup, instead heading up the recently created BMW i brand. The BMW i3 concept certainly has the looks of a winner, but only time will tell whether or not the general public embraces it.
