AI assistants are becoming more common in the home and a new BMW AI assistant aims to bring the smart technology into vehicles. The new AI will be proprietary to BMW and will be able to perform fairly standard AI tasks. This includes playing music, giving directions, responding to random questions, turning on the HVAC system and much more. The BMW AI assistant is set to appear in all BMW models featuring the 7.0 operating system, which will begin rolling out in March 2019.
While the BMW AI assistant may sound like fairly standard fare, it does feature one distinct capability unseen in other automotive AIs. When a user tells the system they are tired, the AI assistant will then initiate Vitality Mode and change the lighting, temperature and mood music to keep the driver awake.
