Birkenstock is debuting a new Fall/Winter collection that recruits California artist Vince Skelley and reimagines the brand’s ‘Arizona’ and ‘Boston’ silhouettes. The Vince Skelly marketing campaign also describes the artist's upbringing in Claremont, California. For this release, two straps that straddle the top of the foot with metal pin buckles for adjustability are added to the EVA sole of the Arizona sandal, which also features a cork-latex footbed.
The Boston model also has a cushioned footbed with a thick layer of comfortable foam. The upper's soft suede material is another feature intended to cradle the foot. Skelly said about the new campaign: "I’m very much influenced by mid-century design, but in a way that a caveman would have made it."
The collection will be available on the Birkenstock website and will launch on December 16.
